Revere Academy San Francisco Tahitian Pearl Jewelry Contest

My inspiration for the design was a pearl emerging from a mollusk. I purchased the pearl directly from a friend who is a Pearl Farmer from "The Motus" — one of the outer Islands off Tahiti.

The Black Pearl is 14.9 mm. The ring is 14K white gold with a sandblasted finish and burnished set diamonds.

The entries were judged around four criteria:

• Design
• Craftsmanship
• Originality
• Marketability

The jury was composed of the following prestigious jewelry designers and instructors at the Revere Academy in San Francisco:

• Etienne Perret (one of the world's premier designers of colored diamond jewelry)
• Peter Walsh
• Jenny Reeves
• Alan Revere

The piece will be publicized through a press release that will go out to publications on and offline as well as to jewelry organizations. In addition, there are plans for a multi-page article which will appear in the inflight magazine for Air Tahiti Nui.
